Research

AIS is working to increase scholarship on the unique experiences of immigrant survivors. Current research regarding this population comes from advocates and attorneys, not the survivors themselves. AIS will address this gap and make survivors’ voices heard. In 2023, AIS will launch a research study in collaboration with a PhD student at the University of Houston. The study will explore immigrant survivors’ trauma experiences and their interactions with the criminal justice system, with the goal of increasing awareness and understanding of their distinct perspectives.
